Internet Marketing for Real Estate Basics I

12/29/2008 12:04

It is absolutely essential that you use the internet to market your property! Lets take a few seconds and just look at the facts:

  1. 84% of people use the internet to search for their home.
  2. 29% of people find their house on the internet, before consulting with an agent!
  3. 82% of people who used the internet to find their home, eventually purchased that home using a REALTOR.
  4. Most Popular Internet Resources: 59% use local MLS, 49% Realtor.com, 44% real estate agent site, 40%*** other Real Estate Search sites***

Accoridng to the National Association of Realtors.

So what does this all mean...if you are selling a home, your house must be listed online...and not just on Realtor.com and in the MLS. I utilize the latest sites to market your property; Postlets, Craigslist, Google Base, Trulia, Zillow, Realtor.com, backpage.com, FrontDoor, Local.com, yahooHomes, HotPads, Oodle, Vast, Enormo and many more. To sell a home, you need to find a buyer. In the "golden days" of real estate, agents would make classifieds in every major news paper and local papers to attract buyers at open houses. Well with circulation numbers down, and home buyers abandoning traditional ways of searching for homes, agents need to adapt. And many do not. Don't believe me? Find out. If your home is listed now, go to some of these sites and type in your address - you will be amazed to find that many Realtors do not utilize these sites...if they do...then you found an agent who is on top of their game...if they do not...you may want to re-evaluate your agent, and think about all those eyes (and potential buyers) who are not seeing your property!
